For Those Who've Come Before

Bob, 2008
2-Color Etching

On Monday, March 7th, my aunt Marcella passed away. She lived much of her adult life with other mentally disabled adults in an ARCA home with a staff that really cares about the well-being of  the home's inhabitants. It was because of Marcella that my Grandma began to fight for the rights of the mentally disabled and began to improve the quality of life for so many disabled New Mexicans years ago. Marcella taught my Grandma a lesson, and my Grandma taught New Mexico a lesson about what it means to believe in the value and humanity of each person.

Remember where you've come from and think about where you're going; we could not do anything without the work of those who've come before us.
