Marcin Bialas

I've been staring at Marcin Bialas' work now for well over a month. Every time I closed my browser, I left his website open with the intention of sharing it sometime. Well now it's time to share the love. Marcin is a Polish printmaker who has a penchant for disintegrated architecture and heavily etched intaglio. Take a look at the following images and his website for many more.

Philipp Henevogl Makes Prints, Gets Handcramps

Aufzug, 2011

Thanks to Printeresting (again) I recently discovered the work of Philipp Henevogl, a german artist. His recent work consist of intricately carved linocuts of construction, destruction and a few things in between. If you are familiar with the process at all, you are probably already getting a headache. Take a look at some of his other work below, and make sure to check out his website.

Yoonmi Nam: Structure Prints

Yoonmi Nam, Structure 2

So I stumbled into Yoonmi Nam's prints on Inkteraction, a printmaking social website I guess. I was really impressed by her work so I thought I would share. Below I'll put some of my favorite images. Check out her website(or Inkteraction page) for even more.

I like James Blake and You Should Too!

James Blake from The Wilhelm Scream

So this will probably be repetitive for many but I couldn't contain myself. I've been on a James Blake binge ever since I heard "The Wilhelm Scream" and "Limit to Your Love", the singles off of his self titled album. Both singles  are covers; "Limit to Your Love" was originally by Feist and "The Wilhelm Scream" is actually a cover of his Dad's (James Litherland) song, "Where to Turn". Below are some of Blake's videos and reasons why you need to listen to him.

Adventures in Letterpress: The California Job Case

Among other things, UNM's print department is home to a Vandercook No. 2 Proof Press. It sits largely unused and unnoticed in the Lithography studio because few people know how to use it. Lucky for me, a grad student who was in the studio one night knew what she was doing and gave me a basic rundown on how to set type and get it ready to print. I've been playing with it ever since; it's so much fun!
